In Memory of Our Family Pets
TINY (1954-1962)
My family already had Tiny (our precious little Chihuahua) when I
was born, so she is the first pet I can ever remember.
The most special memory I have of Tiny is when I was around three
or four years old and would ride my tricycle up and down the
sidewalk in front of our home. Precious little Tiny would follow
me up and down the pavement, no matter how long I rode.
LAD (1962-1972)
Our Shetland Sheepdog Lad was purchased by my brother Gary, and
named "Gary's Laddie Boy". But when Gary went to college, Lad
remained with our family.
He was such a gentle dog! And so smart, too. He could learn tricks
so quickly, and he never forgot them.
When cancer claimed the life of our little gentleman, I remember
crying for days. He had been such a faithful friend, and I still
miss him.

CINDY (1963-1974)
We had Lad and Cindy at the same time, and they were the best of
friends.
Her full name was Cynthia Beatles Amyx (she was named for John
Lennon's wife Cynthia). Cindy was really my sister Linda's dog,
but she was everyone's little baby (especially my Dad's!).
My favorite memory of Cindy is dressing her up in baby clothes
and pushing her in my doll-stroller around our neighborhood!
JODY (1974-1985)
Never was there ever a dog more brilliant or more loving than
our dear, sweet Jody.
There was nothing Jody couldn't do ... nothing he couldn't
figure out. He went with us everywhere, on each trip we went on.
And each place we went, people were always telling us "That dog
should be in the movies! He's the next Benjie!" And he truly could
have been!
None of us have ever gotten over losing our precious Jody from
leukemia. He remains in our hearts forever.
TOBY (1988-1998)
We found Toby at a McDonald's. People were shoving him out of their way as they entered the busy restaurant. My sister, Linda, brought him into our car and whispered to him that no one was ever going to hurt him again. That was a promise we kept for the rest of his life.
Toby's life has been a sad one. Obviously dumped at this McDonald's, the vet confirmed that his little jaw had been broken by having someone kick him. It nearly broke our heart to hear that.
But Toby quickly adjusted to life in his new home, and all the love we gave him was returned to us in full measure.
Our vet called him "Angel Dog", and that's exactly what Toby was! Our little angel now waits for us at the Rainbow Bridge.
